Gingerbread Village 2018

Xhibition Kitchen
December 7, 2018 11:30AM - 1:30PM

Gingerbread creations from the 18th Annual Gingerbread Construction Contest will be on display Friday, December 7 in the Xhibition Kitchen's "Gingerbread Village" for the Northeastern community to vote for their favorites. You can also vote all weekend long via FacebookInstagram, and Twitter. Cash prizes of $100, $75 and $50 will be given for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners.

Facebook votes will be determined by the number of "likes" the photo receives in the Gingerbread Village 2018 album posted by Northeastern Dining. Twitter and Instagram votes must mention @NUDining, #GingerbreadNU and include the number of the creation (i.e. I vote for #GingerbreadNU 00 @NUDining)

Xhibition Kitchen votes will be worth 75% and social media votes will be worth 25% of total votes.

Free admission: If you would like to attend just the Xhibition Kitchen event without eating lunch in the dining room, please sign in with an ID and proceed directly to the XK. If you plan to stay for lunch and eat in the dining room, please pay the à la carte meal rate upon entrance. Thank you and enjoy the show!

The cutting edge venue at the dining halls is the Xhibition Kitchen, located at 11 Speare Place inside Stetson West Eatery. A variety of programs are hosted in this innovative kitchen which include chef demonstrations, cooking classes, book signings and interactive display cooking.

Again this year, all of the gingerbread houses will be donated to Rosie's Place to help this homeless shelters enhance the holiday spirits for those less fortunate.

Additionally, all winners' cash prizes will be matched by Dining Services and donated to Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation. Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). In 2000, 4-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope.
